The firm of W. William Graham, Jr., Inc. was established in Little Rock, AR in 1964 by W. William Graham, Jr., and continued by Robert Graham. Originally started as a Civil-Surveying firm, and soon after its creation, branched into the Environmental Engineering field. The firm has been providing industrial rail spur design services for the last 28 years. In the past 15 years, industrial rail spur projects have accounted for eighty percent of the firm’s workload.

The firm has provided complete design services for over 100 industrial railroad trackage systems for feed mills, aggregate loading, transloading facilities, ethanol plants, poultry feedmills as well as other industrial complexes in the last 28 years. Some of the commodities being shipped include grain, coal, aggregate, sand, ethanol, plastics, steel, peanuts, & cotton seed. The services include plans for the preparation of the roadbed, switches and trackage geometry The firm has also become active in helping railroads that do not have an engineering staff with highway crossing designs and layouts. The firm has designed facilities that were constructed in Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Virginia. The planning work includes the design of the roadbed, the location of switches, track alignment and other requirements of the railroad and the client from concept to final approval for rail service. The firm has experience working with the Union Pacific, CSX, Kansas City Southern, Burlington Northern Santa Fe, and Northfork Southern Railways. The firm has recently worked on several railroad spur projects that involved funding from State and Federal resources. Some industrial complexes have also required vehicular access to be designed for heavy truck traffic. The layouts included pavement design, geometric and grade requirements along with drainage facilities.
