Efficiently removing frozen materials, such as taconite or ice, and wet, sticky materials, like bentonite, from railroad tracks has been a longstanding challenge.
The MPI 6260 Grinder Head attachment solves this problem by providing a continuous grind and removal of all material in one pass. Its 20-inch diameter provides a 47-inch cutting width with a variable depth of cut to 5.5 inches from the top of the rail. The grinder has a variable, hydraulically driven rotational speed and carbide-tipped scrolling pattern tooth design. It can also remove concrete and asphalt from railroad crossings.
