Mitchell Hydraulic Drive Rail Gear is adaptable to all brand Hydraulic Excavators. Mitchell offers different models to fit different weight class machines. Model 2020 for mini excavators weighing up to 20K, Model 4545 for excavators weighing up to 45k, and Model 6060 for excavators weighing up to 60K. The Hydraulic Rail Gear Drive system consists of front and rear mounted hydraulic drive axles that are driven off the excavator hydraulic system. The drive axles can be geared for various speeds and torque capabilities. The front and rear hydraulic drive axle assemblies pin to the provided Rail Gear fixed frame that is welded to the excavator car body. Both front and rear hydraulic drive axles are equipped with ride control that acts as a shock absorber for dampening forces from traveling on uneven railroad track. Ride Control helps to stabilize the entire machine on rail. The Rail Gear drive system can be controlled with manual valves located on the rail gear or optionally in-cab controls. Typically, Model 6060 is provided with in-cab controls and dual Cobra Hydraulic brakes on each rail wheel controlled with a foot pedal. The system can be provided in kit form or factory installed.
