(November 16, 2015) - David Grandy, FACHE, CMPE, managing director of strategic innovation at HDR, was honored with Healthcare Design 's 2015 Rising Star award, given to emerging professionals under 40 years old working in the healthcare field. David accepted the award at the annual Healthcare Design Conference this Sunday.
David's career has involved work on five continents and high-profile clients such as Kaiser Permanente, GE, MD Anderson, and the Ministry of Health for the countries of Jordan and Trinidad and Tobago. He accrued 11 years of experience in healthcare management and consulting before joining HDR in 2008 to start the company's strategic innovation practice, which focuses on integrating human-centered design to help healthcare organizations evolve their business.
Described as Kaiser Permanente's "secret weapon" by a senior vice president in strategic planning and new ventures, David has spent the last three years working on a project called Reimagining Ambulatory Design (RAD), which aims to rethink the ambulatory delivery system for the future. He's also teamed up with the Society for Healthcare Strategy, Marketing, and Development (SHSMD, a subsidiary of the American Hospital Association) to help develop its work on the future of healthcare strategy, including co-authoring its groundbreaking Bridging Worlds report.
The Rising Star award is part of Healthcare Design 's "HCD 10," honoring a select group of individuals and organizations that made a significant mark on the healthcare design landscape over the past year. The awards include 10 categories covering a range of professions and industries, focusing attention on the value and necessity of different perspectives to turn a healthcare vision into a building, or a room, or a campus.
